Code Assessor

The Code for Sustainable Homes (CSH) is a mandatory environmental assessment rating method for new homes; it acts as a mark of quality, a condition of the local planning authority prior to achieving consent. The CSH is based on the current building regulations and aims to make a discernible improvement on the UK building stock. A CSH assessment is a two stage process (Design stage and Post-construction) using objective criteria and verification, prior to issuing certification.

The design categories included within the code are:

  • Energy and Carbon Dioxide Emissions
  • Surface water run-off
  • Health and well-being
  • Water
  • Waste
  • Management
  • Materials
  • Pollution
  • Ecology

Assessed homes will have a reduced environmental impact, lower running costs and features that enhance health and well-being for the occupants. CSH certified buildings use less energy and consume less water, providing greater resilience given the numerous challenges the UK faces, both environmentally and economically.

As fully registered CSH assessors we can design with the code in mind, keeping the process in-house and maintaining one point of contact for our clients.
